Hola! Nice to meet you!

I’m Annie, and I’m passionate about homeschooling in more than one language.

When my parents and I moved to this country (legally), we knew not only that we didn’t want to lose our native language, but also that we needed to assimilate and fit in.

While I embrace my heritage, I more than love America, and I’m unapologetic about the importance of speaking languages well.

Today, my Alabamian husband and I are raising our kids in two languages and he wants to ensure they also embrace both America and their Hispanic heritage.

Meet our family (sans pictures)

We’re committed to keeping our kids’ lives private online and off, so we abstain from disclosing much about them. That’s why you’ll just read about what they do in our homeschool, but you won’t see their pictures.

Chris (Dad)

Chris is a software engineer and “the best Dad” (according to our preschooler).

In his free time, he enjoys us.. in addition to weightlifting, smoking meat, cooking, DIYing, homeschooling, and studying AI + machine learning.

Annie (Mom)

I’m a proud wife and mom who believes there are lessons in everything and never takes her blessings for granted.

In my free time, I ride my Peloton, and read, listen to, and watch stuff on homeschooling, Catholicism, and parenting.

Boy & Girl

These names are what you’ll know our kids by around here. Boy is preschool age, and Girl is a toddler. Together they’re our sunshines.

His favorite activities are cutting paper, tracing, and playing store. Hers are playing with Play-Doh, eating, and dressing up.

Our Pup

Our school’s namesake and mascot, “Our Pup” (to you) is a truly happy stinker who aims to get as many pets and cuddles as possible.

He enjoys getting treats and belly rubs but not baths. He kind of likes the kids but we know they’ll all become best friends.

In our homeschool we:

  • Practice different skills
  • Read books in English and Spanish
  • Include Bible readings, folk songs, and hymns
  • Embrace our cultures

In our homeschool we DON’T:

  • Worry about milestones
  • Fill up our days with activities every hour
  • Keep things generic
  • Ignore the basics
